Provincials Gather At the Motherhouse, February 2, 2008

Nineteen Provincial and Regional Superiors, representing the 34 countries in which Assumption Sisters live and work, are meeting with Sr. Diana and the General Council from February 1 - 29, 2008 at the Religious of the Assumption Motherhouse in Paris. This meeting, called the "CGP" (Conseil General Plenier), or in English, "Plenary General Council," is held every eighteen months.

The CGP aims at strengthening the bonds within the Congregation. In a spirit of discernment it reviews the implementation of the decisions of the General Chapter and draws the attention of the different Provinces to the general good of the Congregation and of its mission, seen in the light of major world problems. It seeks to assure the missionary vitality of the Congregation. [from Rule of Life #101]

Please pray for the General Council and the Provincials as they spend this month together. May it be an experience of forming a community of animation and government at the service of the Kingdom!
