Discovering Common Ground: An AMA Experience, February 20, 2011
Last August 2010, nine Associate Missionaries of the Assumption (AMA) were sent off in mission to different sites in the USA (Chaparral, NM and Worcester, MA) and Europe (England and Ireland).
Laura Buggy and Melissa Tran, who live and work with the Assumption Sisters in Newcastle, England have written about their work at "Common Ground" -- a center which helps asylum seekers.
Their insightful accounts of the work of Common Ground and the challenges faced by asylum seekers are interspersed with reflections on how volunteering has helped them and warns them of the dangers of stereotyping.
