All the congregation's Provincial and Regional Superiors, representing the 32 countries in which Assumption Sisters live and work, met with Sr. Martine and the General Council for four weeks in October last year. This meeting, called the "CGP" (Conseil General Plenier), or in English, "Plenary General Council," is held every eighteen months. Playing host to the CGP was the Province of Central America-Cuba at their retreat house in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
The CGP aims at strengthening the bonds within the Congregation. In a spirit of discernment it reviews the implementation of the decisions of the General Chapter and draws the attention of the different Provinces to the general good of the Congregation and of its mission, seen in the light of major world problems. It seeks to assure the missionary vitality of the Congregation. [from Rule of Life #101]
This wonderful video, made by the Central America-Cuba Province, captures the joyful and fraternal spirit that animated the month-long meeting. Can you identify Sr. Nuala Cotter, our USA Provincial? How many of the Sisters can you recognize?
Yes, we do give thanks and praise for our Sisters and for all the work they did for the life of the Assumption in the world today!
